ShieldNet Security
Creating a Cybersecurity Awareness Wave to Destigmatise Data Breaches
February 2025

Data breaches had become one of the most common threats facing businesses of every size, yet the conversation around them remained shrouded in shame and silence. Companies that suffered breaches stayed quiet out of fear of reputational damage — a culture of secrecy that left the broader ecosystem more vulnerable, not less.
ShieldNet Security challenged us to shift this narrative at scale. The insight driving our strategy: stigmatised topics in enterprise technology require credible, peer-driven voices to normalise them — not vendor messaging. We built the campaign around a coalition of CTOs and security leaders who had experienced breaches and were willing to speak openly about what they learned.
On launch day, coordinated content across LinkedIn, industry publications, webinars, and targeted digital placements created the impression of a cultural moment — a simultaneous industry-wide conversation about transparency in security. The thunderclap approach generated the critical mass needed to make openness feel like the norm rather than the exception.
The campaign drove a 52% increase in inbound enquiries to ShieldNet Security's incident response practice, and a 38% uplift in enterprise trial sign-ups over the campaign period. More significantly, ShieldNet became the reference brand for psychological safety in cybersecurity — the company enterprises call when they need a partner who understands that breaches happen and recovery is what matters.
